NEW PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS FOR 2005

C-55 Semi-Intensive (am/pm): The Semi-Intensive Program is a part-time program consisting of 2.75 hours of study per day (13.75 hours per week). Students may take classes either in the morning from 9:00-11:45 (C-55 am) or in the afternoon from 12:30-15:15 (C-55 pm).

C-80 Semi-Intensive Plus: The Semi-Intensive Plus Program is a part-time program consisting of 4 hours of study per day (20 hours per week). This program is available in the afternoon only from 12:35-16:45.

C-110 Intensive: The Intensive Program is a full-time program consisting of 5.5 hours of study per day (27.5 hours per week). This program runs from 9:00-15:15.

C-140 Intensive-Plus: The Intensive Plus Program is a full-time program consisting of 7 hours of study per day (35 hours per week). This program runs from 9:00-16:45.

WHICH CLASSES CAN I TAKE?

IH Vancouver's regular curriculum consists of courses in the 4 major language areas; Grammar, Reading and Vocabulary, Listening and Pronunciation, and Conversation. Each of these classes utilizes a wide variety of textbooks, audio, and visual materials. Each of IH Vancouver's regular classes are 1.25 hours long.

In addition to our regular curriculum, students can choose courses from a variety of Test Preparation or Specialized Courses. Every month we offer TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge (FCE, CAE, CPE), Advanced Listening and Speaking, English for Academic Purposes and Business English. Each of IH Vancouver's Test Preparation or Specialized Courses are 2.5 hours long.

All courses can be taken in any program and can be combined.

Internship Program

With our partner INTERNeX, we are able to offer a supervised practical training experience for students and professionals conducted on-site with a host company. Students will gain real world business experience in the candidates respective industry. INTERNeX is a program managed by Timothy Wells, who arranges tailored internship placements for international candidates. This unique program provides the opportunity for both companies and candidates to participate in a cultural and skills exchange. It brings qualifed candidates to Canada in order to offer their skills and expertise to a local company in exchange for the opportunity to learn our corporate culture and business style. Internships may be for a minimum of 4 weeks but preferably for 12 weeks or more. The study period at IH Vancouver must be the same duration as the internship. Any internships are considered volunteer positions and no remuneration may be offered to the student.

NEW to the Internship Program is the IH Vancouver Workplace Preparation course. This course prepares students for their internship placements. It is a one month full-time course which is mandatory for all internship students prior to entering their placement.
